I am using a Televue NP127is with a Canon XSi camera. Shots of globs and open cluster are fine. Most planetary nebula are
ok also. I am able to take care of the vignetting via nebulosity. But large diffuse nebula are a mess. The vignetting is so bad
the image is impossible to process correctly. Is this a mismatch of the OTA to camera, my technique, or what. Any input,
insight and suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Scott

On the hardware end, a focal reducer may help you in producing a fully illuminated FOV. I don't know much about Televue, though I know they make reducers. Otherwise, there are two methods to deal with vignetting. The first and best method is to take flat frames (even if a reducer helps the issue, this will still help get rid of dust most and any residual illumination problems caused in the imaging train). The second, and always a good tool to have for vignetting or gradients, is the Gradient Xterminator plugin for Photoshop.

Also make sure you have a field flattner for that scope.

You might consider joining the Televue Yahoo Group. The 127is is made to illuminate the really big chips. I would think that there shouldn't be severe vignetting on an APS-C chip. However, I've never used the scope, so a quick trip the the Televue group will give you a better idea as to what you need to get rid of the vignette.
