I am not new to this cosmic play ground, but I have been away from it for a number of years.

I am hoping that I could get some info on the Meade 12" LX 90 and the Celestron 11 GPS XLT.

I guess I am looking for a comparrison between the too, or is this apples to oranges

Hello and WELCOME!!
Visually its a tie. The 12" Meade is a bit under mounted on the LX 90 mount though.

Welcome to Andy's and as an aside, my wife is from Winnipeg. Ron speaks the truth. Not much difference as far as optical performance is concerned. I like Celestron's hand controller a bit more, but you'd be happy with either. The most comfortable viewing is a fork mounted SC!

Welcome Mitch! Just fyi - I had an opportunity to attend the monthly RASC Winnipeg meeting at the U of M in January and they are a very friendly bunch of folks who seem to have a lot of fun. http://winnipeg.rasc.ca/

Thank-you for the warm welcomes and I do appreciate the input to my query.

As I said I'm not new to this hobby but one can not know everything, and the knowledge that seems to flow through this site is impressive

So once again thank-you and clear skies. Oh and Winnipeg does rock!

Yep, Celestron is a good unit. They have excellent customer service and warranty.
