Turn RIGHT (South) onto Cox Road from Tylersville Road. Take Cox Road SOUTH to Barrett Road. Turn RIGHT (West) onto Barrett Road from Cox Road. Turn LEFT (South) to stay on Barrett at the intersection of Grinn and Barrett and continue on Barrett a very short distance (just beyond the 90-degree right-hand curve) to Keehner Park entrance at the tennis courts. The entrance to Keehner Park will be on the LEFT (South) side of Barrett. . " Notice anything funny about the directions? I wonder if this was intentional?

Member Junky Posts: 12 ![]() Location: Hamilton, OH | Ken, I am a new member on the Shot Glass forum and I just read this post about the directions to Keehner Park. I live about 5 miles from there and I am wondering if you are thinking that It might be a good local site for viewing/imaging. I noticed on the West Chester rules page for Keehner Park that the hours of operation are from Dawn to Dusk. I suppose to use it later than dusk/earlier than dawn would require an official OKey DOkey from West Chester. I am a lifetime, older than dirt, Cincy area local, I currently live in the West Chester area. I have been dabbling with astronomy off and on since I was a kid (late 50s early 60s) when the man down the street who made his own reflector scopes and GEM mounts introduced me to the planets and stars. His GEM mounts were strictly manual, no clock drive and no handy polar scope for alignment. I have been using a 6" Dob (strictly manual, no computer or goto) for about 7 years, but very recently decided to upgrade and explore the imaging end of things. I have ordered an Orion Atlas 8 EQ-G Reflector Telescope with GoTo Controller. For the time being I'll probably start with a simple T-Ring and adapter for my DSLR first with the Moon and planets for my first targets and expand from there. After I get that all sorted out and fine tuned then I am planning to add an autoguider and a camera to explore the faint fuzzy astro-imaging thing. $$$$. Are you a member of any of the local astronomy groups. I just renewed my lapsed membership to the Cincinnati Observatory Center FOTO group. I have taken some interesting astronomy classes there a few years ago. I know that they have an imaging group, but I need to find out when they meet. I am also considering joining the Cincinnati Astronomical Society. Bob Edited by stellarviewer 7/27/2012 12:55 PM

Member Junky Posts: 12 ![]() Location: Hamilton, OH | I drove over there today and took a look (in daytime) There is a flagpole with spotlights and the ever present street light for "security" I imagine the view to the south and west has a pretty good light dome from all of the businesses in the area.
